Most Sixes in International Cricket Matches
After completing 100 runs in World Cups, Rohit Sharma rewrote another record, edging past West Indies legend Chris Gayle hitting most sixes in International Cricket Matches. The Indian skipper hit six off Naveen-ul-Haq’s bowling in the 8th over to go past Gayle’s tally of 553 sixes in international cricket. India’s Rohit Sharma surpassed West Indies’ Chris Gayle for the record of most sixes across formats (Tests, ODIs and T20Is) in international cricket. With the six which came just after Rohit had reached his fifty, he now has 554 sixes across the format. In the list follow big cricketing names like Gayle, Shahid Afridi, Brendon McCullum, Martin Guptil and MS Dhoni.
Hitting a six is widely considered to be one of the biggest game-changing abilities that a batter could possess in modern-day cricket. With the popularity of the sport has largely moved away from the classic five-day-long format to limited-overs cricket, the significance of big hitters today cannot be stressed enough.
