Reactionary Proud Boys march through Long Island streets, disconcerting local pols

Members of the reactionary Proud Boys group marched through Rockville, LI, over the weekend, storming into stores and interfering with buyers, according to video and reports.

About 20 members of the company– categorized as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center and Anti-Defamation League — took over a street Saturday while dressed in black, their faces covered by bandanas, and hoisting “Don’t Tread on Me” flags as they roared rap music from a truck, video shows.

The marchers walked down Dawn Highway and to the Nassau County village’s enterprise zone, where they went into stores while yelling slogans and losing consciousness fliers detailing the group’s fringe approaches, Newsday reported.

The protest drew the ire of local elected authorities.

US Rep. Kathleen Rice, a Democrat whose district includes the South Coast of Long Island, stated she was “disgusted” by the group.

” I’m mindful of the march through Rockville Centre that white nationalists organized today. I am disgusted that this occurred in our district,” she tweeted. “I will continue to fight against racism, hatred, and white nationalism while acting as your agent.

State Sen. Todd Kaminsky (D-Long Island) stated Saturday in a tweet with an accompanying video of the scene, “The Neo-fascist Proud Boys marched through Rockville Centre today, near my workplace.

” I will not be quiet. Their hatred has no location here-this is not the Nassau I understand,” the lawmaker said. “Who else will speak up?”
